Clive Rose has just qualified as an AFI (gyro) instructor, well done.
Clive flys an MT-03 gyro and will be joining Andy on the gyro training team later in the summer.
The Gyroplane pilots of Chiltern Park (529 Chiltern Rota) would like to invite you to a fly-in at their home airfield Chiltern Park, Oxfordshire on the 10th August.
529 (Rota) Squadron was the first RAF rotary squadron initially operating Avro Rota autogyros and finally Sikorsky Hoverflies. In August 1944 529 (Rota) moved from RAF Halton to Crazies Hill otherwise know as RAF Henley-on-Thames thus giving us a theme (excuse) for a themed fly-in at Chiltern Park and therefore would like to welcome gyroplanes, helicopters and especially aircraft types who were based or who flew from Crazies Hill.
529 (Rota) in addition to their autogyros, which were used for radar calibration work, used de Havilland Hornet Moths, Tiger Moths and Airspeed Oxfords. RAF Henley-On-Thames was also used by the Elementary Flying School as a relief landing ground and also by Vickers-Armstrong as the final assembly plant and test flight airfield for more than 260 Spitfires.
Chiltern Park is a busy little airfield with microlight and gyro training throughout the week and also the base for the London Parachute School at the weekend so please take your time to read the airfield information, PPR and be ready to follow guidance from the radio.
Fuel may be available on request (Mogas and Jet A1).
